PALACIO FORTALEZA DEL MARQUÉS DE DOS AGUAS: This fortress palace began to be built in 1539, its style is Gothic-Renaissance and was completed around 1614. It was built by Ramón de Vilanova, baron of the Foia de Castalla and Lord of Onil and Fabanella, Gaspar de Rocafull inherited it, who in 1624, King Felipe IV, granted the title of Marquis of Dos Aguas. The building has a square floor plan and has four towers, with two noble shields, it houses the town hall, while one of them is occupied by the church bell tower. It has an exterior moat that leads into the interior where there is a cloister or porticoed courtyard, where the prison of the Lord’s Jurisdiction was located. The interior rooms are vaulted and the windows have comfortable pedestals, some unfinished. All floors of the magnificent building are large and spacious with coffered wooden ceilings. In the upper cloister is the Costume Exhibition of the Moors and Christians Festival of Onil.
