On a hill and with a double walled enclosure, the Biar castle rises. Important pages of our history were forged within its walls. Due to its status as a border city, Biar played an important role in the Christian conquest of the old kingdom of Valencia. It was one of the squares that most resisted when Don Jaime I of Aragon tried to conquer it. This happened in early February 1245, finally Musa Almoravid, warden of the fortress, went out to surrender to King Don Jaime I the Conqueror.
One of the highlights is the tribute tower on one of the sides, of which the good state of preservation in relation to the rest of the fortress is surprising, which was used as a cemetery during the 19th century. Currently you can see remains of cisterns, intended to conserve rainwater for the self-sufficiency of the population.
